International Women Days :
Mar 9: International Women’s Day was celebrated by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at Howrah to mark the equality and progress of women and also to respect, appreciate and love all the women in the world. The focus of the celebrations was “Women Empowerment through Self Help Groups”. Around 150 women SHG members and rural entrepreneurs promoted under NABARD’s SHG-Bank Linkage programme participated in this programme, Sulekha Ray, District Development Manager of NABARD, while speaking on the occasion apprised about the importance of Self Help Groups in empowerment of rural women and how these groups are acting as micro banks at gross root level. She said that Self Help Groups are a vital tool for socio economic development of women. The programme which was highly appreciated by all. Jujersa Women And Child Welfare Organisation presented the vote of thanks. ArchanaMandal ,Secretary JWCWO, Bandana Adhikary ,President of JWCWO , and others guest etc were also present during the programme.
SHG BANK LINKAGE PROGRAMME :
It is a recognized fact that unless the women’s potential is properly developed no transformation and economic development of rural society is possible. Hence it is important to create opportunities for socio-economic development of women in rural areas for which their access to resources and participation in decision making could be enhanced.In collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture And Rural Development (NABARD) JWCWO Launched a large camping to form Self-Help -Groups in District Howrah and Jagatballavpur, Domjur and Udaynarayanpur block in Rural areas..The collective coming together of individual members is used for a number of purposes economic self reliance , and become active decision-making partners in the development process each Group has a common guideline to run and maintain its activities with regular practice of savings, monthly meeting to discuss with their problem and to resolve. The gender equity i.e. education for girls child , legal age of marriage, small family norms, better hygiene and sanitation, safe drinking water ,nutrition. In short social emancipation through economic empowerment
Nari Shakti Fitness Run for International Women days programme :
Jwcwo conduct Nari Shakti Fitness Run programme in Jagatballavpur blocks, Gobindapur of the District Howrah on 08th March 2024. More than 30 Girls attend the 100mt run programme. JWCWO representative and other dignitaries attended the programme. These Runs are sequel to the observance of International Women’s Day and to reiterate the role of healthy and fit women in the development of our nation.
The Nari Shakti Fitness Run will be a testament to the power and potential of women in India and will spread the message to enhance regular physical activity participation among women, empower women through fitness, leading to improved health, confidence, and overall well-being of women folk. All women of the locality and members of different SHG (self-help groups) and village organisations took part in the run.
